On May 7, Israeli forces seized the main border crossing at Rafah, closing a vital route for aid into the besieged area
The jail terms were handed down by the criminal court of the Fujairah federal court. A 24-year-old man identified as F.A.A., Emirati, was given 14 years and was slapped with a fine of Dh70,500. The records reported that F.A.A., tried to evade being caught by the undercover police officers during a vehicle pursuit and smashed into the police vehicle, causing damage to it. The court condemned the second accused, a 23-year-old Emirati, B.K.S., to four years in prison on the charge of using narcotics.
The incident took place in November last year when the unmarked police car had spotted a motor vehicle moving in an opposing direction. The undercover police officers chased the errant driver and ordered him to stop, but he continued to drive, before smashing into the police car. When the officers searched the car, they found hashish inside.
Referring the duo to the medical body to undergo a routine drug test, they both tested positive to using heroin and hashish, along with other mind-altering narcotics. The two wrongdoers had been referred to the court which passed down the foregoing verdict.
