Shahzad shines as Afridi CC beat Eurocon Alubond
SHARJAH – Mohammed Shahzad Manna of Afridi CC scored a blistering 94 to set up a comfortable 28-run victory over Eurocon Alubond in the Sharjah Summer Cup, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Sharjah stadium on Tuesday night, a press release said.
Manna hammered eight fours and six sixes in his 42-ball innings as Afridi CC, batting first, after winning the toss posted 193 for seven in the allotted 20 overs. Abdullah Azhar (37 off 26 balls) was the other major scorer.
Mohammed Ajmal took three wickets for 29 runs, but his efforts were not enough to prevent Afridi CC from running away with the early initiative. Eurocon Alubdon, in reply, were restricted to 165 for eight despite a fine unbeaten 56 off 43 balls by Vikrant Shetty. Mohammed Azam (34 off 26 balls) was also among the runs, but Eurocon kept struggling to match pace with ever-increasing asking rate. Abdullah Azhar and Manna snared two wickets each to seal the victory.
