Farhan strikes deadly form

DUBAI - Seven Seas Striker’s left arm spinner Farhan Ahmed came up with a mesmerising spell of spin bowling to skittle out six of the Pak Titans batsman to bundle them out for a meagre 103 runs.

His spell helped his team to a huge 174 run win in the Mobil Cup match played were over the last week end in the tournament conducted by Dubai Cricket Council and sponsored by EMA Lubricants, distributors of Mobil Oil in this region.

Seven Seas put up a good score of 277 runs mainly due to a 107 runs partnership between Tariq and Salman after openers Babar 30, and Freddy Sidhwa 17, were out. Tariq struck a quick fire 73 runs in 42 balls with thirteen boundaries while Salman scored an unbeaten knock of 82 runs in 43 balls with nine fours and two sixes. Farhan then bowled a tantalising length mixing up his deliveries to bamboozle the Pak Titan batsmen who had absolutely no clue to his spinning guiles. Dubai Islamic Bank beat Wings XI quite easily as skipper Kashif Pasha did the star turn bagging three top order batsmen of Wings XI for just 33 runs and restricting them to 188 runs. Munsif scored a rapid 53 in 21 balls with five fours and four sixes for Wings while Neeraj 37, and Nahid with 27 runs were the other contributors. Earlier Dubai Islamic Bank put up 243 runs mainly due to a superb knock of 83 runs from the blade of Asif Siddique who needed only 44 balls for his knock which included twelve fours and three sixes. Ghalib Ali with 62 and Farhan Butt with a slambang 60 runs in 28 balls including five sixes weighed in for the bankers.

Young skipper Shorye Chopra of G Force Academy played a stellar role for his team comprising of youngsters with a responsible unbeaten knock of 54 runs laced with nine fours and a six and was mainly responsible for their fine win over Master Beaters. Zamin with 21 and Kartik with 23 runs were the other two batsmen to ensure victory for the youngsters. Master beaters who had batted first scored a meagre total of 123 runs with Sanjiv Advani 24, Adnan Adeeb 17, and Sanjer Ali 19 being the successful run getters. Youngster Aayush Motwani bowled a tantalizing length and line to emerge the most successful bowler for G Force with 3 wickets for 16 runs while Varun and Shoaib picked up two wickets each.
