Created out of a fertile piece of land famous for its vegetable and fruit farms in 2006, Al Dhaid Cricket Village offers first class facilities to the local and visiting teams. Installations of floodlights and turf wickets have further added to making it one of the most sought-after cricket venues in the UAE.

To keep up pace with time and satiate the ever-increasing demand for competitive cricket, the Sharjah Cricket Council plans to organise at least five tournaments in the first half of the season, including the 20th Bukhatir League ‘B’ Division event, at the village.

“It’s great to see Al Dhaid Cricket Village fast becoming a big hit with the players. We thank teams from all over the UAE for coming over and playing at this venue,” said Waleed Bukhatir, chairman of Al Dhaid Cricket Village.

He disclosed that a second all-grass ground with a turf wicket would be ready by the end of the current year. “This would help us organize more tournaments on natural turf wickets which, in turn, will go a long way honing the skills of junior and senior players.

“Last year, over 350 matches were played at Al Dhaid Cricket Village and I am really delighted to say that the number will surpass this season as we will be having more events there,” he said.

“We, at the Sharjah Cricket Council, are committed to creating healthy playing opportunities for our players and the creation of Al Dhaid Cricket Village was a step in that direction,” said Waleed, who also thanked Abdulrahman Bukhatir for his continuous support and guidance on the development of Al Dhaid Cricket Village.

The following events — all 20-overs-a-side — will be played at Al Dhaid Cricket Village in the coming season: Fifth Al Dhaid Cricket Village Tournament 20th Bukhatir League ‘B’ Division Tournament AJ Invitation League Tournament

Sharjah Invitation League Tournament Third Al Dhaid Gold Cup Tournament
