Telematics Conference to be held in Dubai

Dubai - IBM, Al Futtaim Logistics, Etisalat and Meitrack to Speak at the second Telematics Conference in Dubai

Dubai will host the second international conference and exhibition focused on telematics solutions for fleet management on March 2 to 3, 2016.
The industry-focused event will bring together telematics solution providers (TSPs), device manufacturers, M2M providers, logistics and transport companies, and other telematics stakeholders from the Middle East and Africa region and many worldwide delegates.
Many companies of worldwide renown will share their knowledge and industry insights on global trends and regional development in the telematics industry, with a special focus on the question of how can telematics solutions support business decisions in fleet management for commercial vehicles. Participants will be able to learn from the companies IBM, Al Futtaim Logistics, Etisalat, MAN Truck & Bus Middle East and Africa, Gurtam, Transics, Meitrack, Ruptela, FMS Tech and others.
"The telematics industry will continue to see strong growth (15-20 per cent) but will change dramatically in terms of technology approach," explains Dominique Bonte, Vice President and GM, M2M at the market intelligence company ABI Research.
New technologies demand different business models and strategies. Thus, telematics solution providers will need to adapt their operations to new market needs. Customers will expect advanced solutions that rely on big data analytics and predictions that support company decision making. The entire industry, on the global level, will move from collecting endless data (from vehicles, drivers and infrastructure) to useful information.
Although Middle Eastern and African commercial telematics is growing fast, the telematics industry faces many challenges in this region.
"The majority of telematics solutions in the region is still dominated by more basic, low cost solutions," Bonte said.
"At the same time, there are big opportunities for future growth," added Hazael Hernandez, Technical Account Manager at the US-based telematics company Meitrack, and concludes that "commercial telematics the Middle East and Africa will start with the oil and gas industry, with safety improvements and avoidance of potential losses, but will spread to other industries like transportation, logistics, security and healthcare."
