Three new Covid-19 vaccination centres have been set up in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) has announced.
Two of these centres were established in a record time of four days in Abu Dhabi. They are located at the Abu Dhabi Cruise Ship Terminal in Abu Dhabi City; and Al Ain Convention Centre in Al Ain City. They have a collective capacity to administer vaccine shots to 6,000 people daily.
The Dubai Parks & Resorts Field Hospital vaccination center has the capacity to accommodate 3,000 people daily.
“We are trying to open as many Covid-19 vaccination centres as possible with the aim of increasing the accessibility of the vaccine to the community members,” said Dr Marwan Al Kaabi, Executive Director of Operations at Seha, told Khaleej Times. “We want everyone to get the vaccine for their protection and that of the community.”
According to Al Kaabi, the centres in Abu Dhabi are each divided into two zones — one for each dose — with each having 24 vaccination stations.
The centre in Dubai, which has 50 vaccination stations, also has a drive-through divide for men taking their second dose.
The Sinopharm CNBG Covid-19 vaccine is also being administered within select Seha facilities, including 35 Ambulatory Health Services (AHS) facilities in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain; six hospitals in Al Dhafrah region; Tawam Hospital; 19 Majalis in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafrah; National Screening Centre in Mina Rashid; and Khawaneej in Dubai city.
UAE nationals and residents wishing to receive the vaccine can visit any of the centres in Abu Dhabi every day of the week, from 8am to 8pm. The Dubai centre is open daily from 8am to 4pm.
Vaccination process
> Visitors will first register and then undergo an assessment, including blood pressure, height, weight, and temperature.
> Women will also be required to conduct a pregnancy test.
> Following the assessment, visitors will sign a consent form, after which, they will be given the first dose.
> After receiving the first dose, visitors will need to wait at the centre for 15 minutes to conduct a post-vaccination evaluation.
> Once cleared, they will receive their appointment for the second dose, administered three to four weeks after.
