Hospitals in Dubai can resume elective and non-urgent surgical procedures.

These procedures had been suspended earlier to prioritise the "most critical health issues". It was intended to help authorities manage the cases of Covid-19 and ensure the preparedness of health facilities.

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) on Saturday issued a circular that allows hospitals and one-day surgery centres to resume the surgeries from March 21.

Hospitals have been advised by the authority to abide by bed occupancy rates. They are to retain inpatient and ICU beds for Covid-19 patients "wherever necessary", according to the circular that Khaleej Times has seen.

Last week, it was announced that private hospitals in the UAE can resume elective surgeries and other wellbeing treatments that were previously suspended.
