Due to the latest developments with the Covid-19 coronavirus, and in line with the recommendations of public health experts and government officials, Sharjah Art Foundation galleries, venues and other spaces, including Rain Room Sharjah, Sharjah Art Shops and the Art Centres, will be temporarily closed to the public beginning March 16, 2020 and will remain closed until further notice.

"The closures are a precautionary measure to support the health of our community, partners and staff," Sharjah Art Foundation said in an email.

"Given the evolving nature of the situation, we are closely monitoring developments and considering the possible timeline for re-opening. We will continue to keep you informed via our website and social media channels."

In a separate announcement, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority announced the closure of a few destinations as well.

In line with the implementation of the precautionary and preventive measures against the Covid-19 coronavirus, it was decided to temporarily close the following facilities within our destinations, starting from Sunday, March 15, 2020 until further notice," the authority said.

- Al Qasba leisure and entertainment areas will be closed temporary
- Al Noor Island will be closed until further notice
- The playing area at Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah will be temporarily closed until further notice.
- Al Montazah Parks will be closed until further notice
- Al Hafiya Picnic Park will be closed until further notice
- Maraya Art Center will be closed until further notice
- Khorfakkan Beach playing area will be closed temporary
- Souq Al Shanasiya playing area will be closed temporary
