However, with a spike in Covid-19 cases in recent days, residents have been advised to adhere by general health guidelines and precautionary measures issued by the ministry of health and prevention.

The ministry officials have called on citizens and residents not to circulate unconfirmed details about the Covid-19, and to follow the social media channels for the official authorities, and the mainstream media for accurate information. Anyone spreading fake information and rumours on social media about coronavirus in the country will be punished according to the online law, the ministry has warned. On Thursday, two men — who were accused of fabricating a report about five members of an Emirati family dying of Covid-19 — have been sentenced to two years in jail. The court also ordered that the interviewee who provided false information to the reporter be deported at the end of his prison term.

Meanwhile, the Dubai Health Authority has announced that the PCR Covid-19 testing stations at malls across Dubai are now accepting walk-in customers. Operating hours have also changed. The testing stations at Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif and City Centre Deira are open for walk-ins from Sunday to Wednesday from 10am to 5pm and from Thursday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm.
