Dubai Economy has found a high level of compliance by commercial outlets to Covid-19 guidelines in the reopening phase.
During its routine inspection carried out on Friday, all 735 outlets, barring one, were found to be compliant. The violating outlet was issued warning, but no other shop was fined or shut down for non-adherence to the precautionary measures.
Dubai Economy has stepped up its inspection campaign in the reopening phase after completing the sanitisation programme that was carried out across the emirate last month. All the major shopping malls and commercial outlets were closed in order to contain the coronavirus. But they have been allowed to operate with reduced hours and under certain conditions such as maintaining social distance guidelines and ensuring safety for customers and employees.
The inspections started with the markets' opening time in the morning and lasted till they closed. Dubai Economy directed traders to comply with the Covid-19 precautionary measures, such as wearing face masks and gloves, ensuring social distancing, and not conducting commercial activities between 10pm and 6am during the National Disinfection Programme unless previous circulars exempted the activity from closing and allowed 24/7 operations.
Dubai Economy also called on consumers to report any non-compliance to the Covid-19 precautionary guidelines via the Dubai Consumer App available on Apple, Google, and Huawei stores, by calling 600545555, or on the Consumerrights.ae website.
