Quite often pet owners in the city are left scratching their heads in an attempt to find a suitable spot to let their furry friends get the walk and exercise they need, especially in the summer. Earlier this year, it was announced that it is now illegal to let dogs off their lead anywhere in Dubai.
But pet owners need not worry, as there are some great areas in Dubai that offer ample space, greenery, and activities to keep pets happy. One of the most convenient places to head to with your four-legged bestie is the Dog Park in The Greens and Views community.
Located at the end of Street 6, the park is one of the first leash-free pet parks in the city. The park is open daily from 7am to 10pm and has an exciting obstacle course for dogs to navigate. It also has a bone-shaped sandpit that's perfect for burying things in and ensures the pets have a great time out!
The Greens also has leafy pedestrian walkways running through the community, which has the facility of doggy waste bins located at various spots. In the evening, a number of residents can be seen taking their pets out for a leisurely stroll, to give their pet some much-needed exercise after being indoors all day long, in this safe and lovely environment.
Here are a few other places that are regarded as suitable dog-walking destinations:
Arabian Ranches: Take your pooch to the open desert behind Arabian Ranches. There's ample space for your dog to stretch its legs.
Jumeirah Lake Towers: Pets are not allowed in the central park area but the walkways around the three lakes are great spots to take your dog for a walk.
Palm Jumeirah: The strip of Golden Mile on Palm Jumeirah is another good area to go with your pet. The sea breeze and open space is sure to cheer them up.
Al Qudra Lakes: Hop into your car and drive off to this cluster of man-made lakes that is worth checking out for pet owners.
Dubai Investment Park Zone 2: The facility called My Second Home features the world's largest indoor dog park! The play areas are climate controlled and the dog park comes with a pool and play equipment.
Bark Park: Located in Al Awir, this is a municipality-approved facility where you can let your pets roam free. The desert park is a fully enclosed, clean and offers a private area for dogs to exercise and socialise. Dogs that use the park must be vaccinated and microchipped.
