On Oct. 21, Chan performs at the Meralco Theatre (in Manila's suburban Pasig City) for a fund-raising project, Concert for a Cause, with Jamie Rivera, who lent her beautiful voice for the Jubilee Celebration 2001 theme Tell the World of His Love.

Chan and Rivera will serenade the audience in a two-hour show of popular melodies, which both of them have popularised. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Holy Trinity Home for Children (located in Barangay Sauyo, Novaliches, in Manila's suburban Quezon City) which is run by the Trinitarian Handmaids of the Divine Word whose great desire is to uplift the condition of children living in poverty.

Chan, who is also an industrialist and philanthropist, has previously performed in concerts in the Philippines and abroad for humanitarian causes.

He has written hundreds of songs since his first song Afterglow was played on the radio in 1964. Among other memorable songs of the prolific tunesmith are A Love to Last a Lifetime, Can We Just Stop and Talk a While, Tell Me Your Name, and Deep in My Heart.

Fans have described his love songs as fresh and captivating while critics found poetry in the lyrics, not to say that they also find Chan's songs heartwarming, apart from the fact that they trigger a yearning for days gone by.

Another singer who is singing for a cause is Bimbo Cerrudo. Now on its third month run at the Teatrino in Greenhills (suburban San Juan municipality), "Cerrudo Classico Classic Ko" features the theatre actor, concert performer and recording artist.

The show has been wowing critics since its opening night. Cerrudo is accompanied on stage by a 14-piece ensemble of musicians from the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra with Rodel Colmenar as conductor.

Cerrudo performs standards, movie themes, highlights from operas, and other popular musical forms.
