It’s been almost three years since your last interview with City Times. How has the UAE’s club scene changed in that time?

The change has been pretty amazing. I’ve played in almost every nightclub in Dubai or Abu Dhabi – and the few clubs I haven’t played yet, they know how to contact me! But I haven’t only been in nightclubs, I’ve also played a lot of great events for big brands in the malls.

Has your balance between modelling and DJing changed as well?

Yes. Unfortunately I only have time for DJing and sometimes I wish I were on the catwalk again. But I’ve had a few fashion shows in 2011 where I played the music for the models, which was very cool and something different.

Are there any current trends in dance music which annoy you?

Not really. I love all kinds of electronic music, as long as the crowd is dancing. I’ve also produced two singles, which are coming out soon.

Which international artists coming to Dubai have you played alongside?

I’ve played at events with Akon, Paris Hilton, Judges Jules, Jerry Ropero, Akcent, Freemasons and many more. I liked Akon, he was very down to earth.

Who has been the most memorable person you’ve played for?

Nicholas Cage was with his wife in Beijing for an event I played. I saw them both dancing and got goose bumps!

For anyone looking to try DJing in Dubai, where is the best place to start?

First they should go do any DJ Corner in Virgin Megastore and try the equipment. I’ve also started a small DJ school myself, because I was receiving so many requests to teach. If you’re interested, contact me at www.female.dj.

· Sabrina describes her sound as, “in between house and progressive house”. But she adds that, “other styles like urban, funky and tech-trance influence my sets too.”

· She began DJing in 2006, while working as an international model for titles such as the Portuguese FHM and the German Maxim – creating beats on her laptop to kill time during flights.

· She is currently ranked number 57 in the world on influential website The DJ List, a stone’s throw from world-famous names such as Fatboy Slim, Moby and Basshunter.
