and human forms within abstract settings. Flach's photography has won many international photographic awards, and his work has been featured in various advertising campaigns, magazine covers, and photojournalism.
The lecture, organised by Gulf Photo Plus, was a compliment to Flach's current exhibition which concluded with a charity art auction, sponsored by Wafi City.
One main, very successful element of the lecture, was the use of raw video footage showing photographic assignments and art direction in action. Flach then contrasted these with the final 'abstracted' images he produced from them, and which appeared on advertisements and magazine covers — he explained how he had identified potential shots, many of which were based on the use of flash lighting techniques. Students and faculty were intrigued and delighted to learn more about Flach's international experiences, trade tips and interests in subject matter, and were eager to ask questions. Many of the questions from students were constructive and very thoughtful, and Flach commented on the students' high standard of knowledge and ability in visual communication.
