The award was presented by Glormina Jindran, vice-president, education, after a Toastmasters session of the Dessert Voices Chapter held in Dubai. "Cherry completed all the projects of Toastmasters International's 'Communication and Leadership Programme', a series of 10 rigorous speeches which provide instruction and practice in the various techniques of public speaking, within a remarkable period of nine months. Indeed she demonstrated a high degree of self-motivation and a strong interest in self-improvement," Glormina said after presenting the award.

The title of Cherry's Project 10 was, Inspire your Audience — 'The Power of Affirmations'. Cherry joined Toastmasters International in January this year, and is also the recipient of 6 Best Speaker Awards for Project Speeches. She said: "I enjoyed a great deal of prominence in my life. But that’s not what has brought me the greatest pleasure and satisfaction. I felt most successful when I am empowering people to trust and believe in themselves more deeply and to pursue their dreams more boldly and passionately. Knowing that I can make this kind of inspiration in the lives of others is what deeply motivates me."

Cherry is a licensed electronics and communications engineer, a certified Microsoft Office specialist (expert level) and a certified Microsoft authorised instructor.
