The first weekend of the Big Summer Sale, a key attraction of the 18th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises, or DSS, has seen a large turnout of shoppers flocking to the Dubai World Trade Centre to take advantage of offers from an array of premium international brands
Shoppers have shown great enthusiasm for this unique event, which was launched on the opening day of DSS, organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, as more than 30,000 visitors showed up in the past three days.
Retailers' initial feedback indicates that combined sales crossed several millions of dirhams during the weekend, vowing at the same time to replenish stocks to meet demand for the rest of the exhibition period.
The 10-day Big Summer Sale features brands from the Apparel Group, M.H. Al Shaya Group, Al Tayer Group, Azadea Group, Chalhoub Group and Rivoli. All their brands are offering great deals on a wide range of products at the Dubai World Trade Centre until August 1.
Shoppers are arriving in Dubai from all over the world to experience DSS.
Eshatson Mahori, from Ethiopia, said: "I had heard about the Big Summer Sale and realised it was too good an opportunity to miss out on."
Nahehathra Naqeah, from Dubai, said: "It seemed like too great an event to give up, and so far I am having a great time. I will have enough clothes to last me for the rest of the year."
Ben Hernandez, who also comes from Dubai, said: "I am enjoying the Big Summer Sale and the extraordinary offers I am finding here. I bought around seven different items and only had to spend Dh280, an amazing opportunity I can't find anywhere else."
