Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, chairman of the SCCI, held discussions with Khan Wali Khan Basharmal, deputy chief of administrative office of the President, on ways to enhance mutual cooperation between the private sectors in both countries.
The two sides also held discussions on the opportunity of organising a business conference on the sidelines of the Afghanistan International Investment Summit that will be held in the UAE in January 2019, in order to promote mutual investment opportunities.
The conference would also serve as an opportunity for businesspeople from both countries to discuss ways to cooperate and establish joint projects.
The meeting was attended by Ziyad Mohmoud Khairalla AlHaji and Mohamed Rashid Ali Demas, board members of the SCCI, and Mohamed Ahmed Amin, acting director-general of the SCCI, as well as a number of directors at the chamber.
Al Owais stressed the chamber's keenness to provide all facilities to Afghan businesspeople looking to conduct economic activities in Sharjah.
Al Owais called on the Afghan business community to participate in exhibitions organised and hosted by Expo Centre Sharjah throughout the year in order to learn more about the market in Sharjah and companies operating in the emirate. He said one of those exhibitions is SteelFab 2019, which will be held from January 14 to 17, 2019. He suggested to the Afghan delegation that they open a trade office in Sharjah, which would aim to help the local business community identify investment opportunities in Afghanistan. - Wam
