A padel court, which has been set up at the hotel, will be open for another three months to give sports enthusiasts the opportunity to watch and try the exciting new sport.

The new sport is a creative mixture of squash and tennis, fusing the most enjoyable elements of both sports on a smaller court while at the same time making it easily accessible for enthusiasts of all ages. The padel racquet, called pala, is smaller and lighter than a tennis racquet, solid with no strings, perforated.

“Compared with tennis and squash Padel is much easier to pick up and more social as it’s played in doubles and is definitely physically less demanding. We believe that this new sport is going to gain a tremendous following in the UAE as it has in Europe and we look forward to our first tournament in the region,” commented Gonzalo Gaspar, managing director of Padel Arabia.

Padel Arabia is currently the only company in the region to offer a complete set up of padel courts including design, manufacture, construction of the court surfaces while offering an entire array of accessories, sports wear and lessons dedicated to the new sport.

“There was a large gap in the market that consisted of a sport that is not only more casual, but does not require massive levels of physical fitness. In today’s fast paced lifestyle we truly believe that Padel will fill this need perfectly,” added Gaspar.

The team behind Padel is extremely enthusiastic having already developed a total solutions package and appealing return on investment schedule for any hotel, sports club and other venues looking to develop the sport. Offering club and event management, coaches and equipment they believe they have the best all round set up to offer something fresh to the market.
