Mazin Al Eshaiker was born in Baghdad and graduated from California State University in Electrical Engineering and received his MBA from the University of La Verne.
He said: "I am very pleased to return into my native country at this important time with a unique opportunity to apply Motorola technologies to the task of moving Iraq into a new, exciting era that holds great promise for the Iraqi people."
Motorola has provided mission-critical radio communications support in Iraq since April 2003. It is positioned to provide timely and effective implementation of a broad range of IT and telecommunications solutions serving Iraq's utilities sectors, public safety organisations, education and health care institutions, transportation industry and the broader communication sector.
Last year, for new mobile phone networks in Central and Southern Iraq, Orascom Telecom and MTC selected Motorola to be their primary supplier of GSM infrastructure. In December 2003 with the signing of licenses, Motorola is poised to deliver the first ever mobile phone service to the Iraqi people.
