The region’s largest event for the construction and building industry is taking place from November 22–25, 2010 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It provides a platform for architects, engineers, contractors and developers from the public and private sectors to network, source and specify the latest building and construction products and services.

“The event provides an excellent platform to share thoughts, learnings and successes from 2010 and look forward to the upcoming years,” Simon Mellor, Senior Vice-President of dmg events, said.

The event will host over 2,500 exhibitors from 70 countries, with 27 national pavilions and covering all sectors of the industry, including facility construction, site and infrastructure, plant, machinery and vehicles, sustainability and environmental and facility services.

There will also be a number of added value elements taking place at the event during the four days, with exhibitors helping to promote the importance of environmental responsibility.

The Big 5 Conference 2010 will opens today with high-level speakers from all sectors of the international and regional construction industry. They will be facilitating discussion, debate and knowledge share and including the brand new onsite accredited training courses, from some of the world’s most renowned industry institutions.

The Big 5 PMV

Now on its fourth year, the Big 5 PMV was also opened on Monday. It is part of The Big 5, and is the Middle East’s leading exhibition dedicated to plant, construction vehicles, machinery and equipment. International contractors, developers and suppliers have gathered at the event for the four-day event, encouraged by reports of the construction industry’s resilience.

The exhibition provides a platform for firms to increase their presence in the region and unveil new products for 2011. According to recent research an estimated 1,600 projects worth over $560 billion are active in the UAE alone.

A major Abu Dhabi group of companies is using the Big 5 PMV to launch a technology to protect engine components into Gulf markets. The Foresight Group GCC aims to take the region by storm with the introduction of a unique oil additive product, marketed under the Synionic brand name, which dramatically prolongs engine lives leading to major savings on spare parts.
