KESC appoints new CEO

The troubled Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has appointed retired general Syed Mohammad Amjad as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to replace German Frank Scherschmidt.

Scherschmidt was appointed as CEO since the privatisation of the utility service late in 2005. The new CEO is expected to take charge from April 3, 2007.

Amjad has been previously served as the managing director of Fauji Foundation for three years and before that he was chief of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
