Jacky's Business Solutions on Sunday announced its appointment as the first value added reseller for SoftBank Robotics' humanoid robot, Pepper.
Pepper is a highly customisable humanoid robot that made waves in the UAE when it was first introduced. Pepper comes equipped with several interactive features and a high-level interface for proactively communicating with those around him, using the latest advances in voice and face recognition. These capabilities, combined with B2B robotics applications, makes Pepper an innovative business solution to enhance a customer's experience. Pepper is currently used in a wide range of industries such as retail, tourism, banking, healthcare, hospitality, enterprise, government, and education.
To support the relationship, Jacky's will invest in expanding its team of software and support engineers to include programmers who can code Pepper to suit the diverse applications across industries and departments. The company will also be stocking some of the common parts for Pepper that may need to be replaced. In addition, Jacky's will be looking to expand their network of reseller partners to include those with existing software and hardware resources.
Speaking to Khaleej Times at Seamless Middle East 2018, Ashish Panjabi, COO at Jacky's Business Solutions, said that he envisions a very bright future for Pepper in the region. "There has been a lot of interest from several vendors that are looking to adding Pepper to their operations. We have been working on meeting this demand for quite a while now. The demand itself comes from various industries such as healthcare, education, retail, and hospitality. This new addition to our Visitor Management Solutions (VMS) repertoire will enhance our customer service capabilities, and allow us to engage with more enterprise customers."
He added: "We have always tried to be ahead of the game and adding robotics to our range of visitor management solutions portfolio was a natural progression, given the fact that we live in one of the most innovative regions where the demand for smart solutions and AI is growing day by day. Pepper for us right now is a product; our mission now is to building the platform around the product. We will be closely working with the developer community in the region."
Nicolas Boudot, VP of EMEA Business and Marketing at SoftBank Robotics Europe, explained that Pepper is the latest addition in the company's portfolio of humanoid robots. "We have sold over 10,000 units in Japan and Europe, and since a year now, we have been looking to do business in this region. Our mission is to have robots becoming companions for people at home. The road to that is not going to be easy, but this is the first step towards making that happen in the near future."
