Friday-Saturday weekend for financial markets
ABU DHABI — The Emirates Securities and Commodity Authority (Esca) has endorsed a Friday-Saturday weekend holiday for financial markets.
In a statement issued here yesterday, Esca said the country’s stock markets should also enjoy Friday-Saturday weekend holiday as it is the case with the rest of institutions in the country.
The move is also in line with the cabinet decision no. 21 for 2006, said the statement, adding that this adjustment will come into effect in Ramadan.
The statement added that the decision was taken after consultations with the stock markets and brokers. The decision, said the statement, took into account weekend holidays in the most of the markets in the region.
