Diamonds exports at Dh 5.4b in 2004
ABU DHABI — The UAE recorded a 30 per cent growth in rough diamond exports in 2004 with the value of exports and re-exports diamonds reaching Dh5.4 billion compared to Dh4.4. billion in 2003.
The volume of rough diamonds exported in 2004 amounted to 28.6 million carats compared to 30.1 million carats in 2003 The value of rough diamonds imports to the UAE in 2004 reached Dh3.2 billion compared to Dh2.1 billion in 2003.
However, during 2003, import and export of rough diamonds and diamond jewellery activities in the UAE flourished, registered more than 25 per cent growth.
