Rosatom, Russian state nuclear cooperation, has officially expanded its presence in the Middle East with the launch of its first office in the UAE. In an event held on Wednesday on the sidelines World Nuclear Fuel Cycle, or WNFC, exhibition and conference in Abu Dhabi, Rosatom State Corporation introduced partners and WNFC attendees to its new regional office. The office is located in Dubai and will serve as the company's headquarters in the Middle East and North Africa region.
Alexander Merten, president of Rosatom International Network, said: "Rosatom has a long and successful history of cooperation in the region. Starting from cooperation on research reactors projects in the 1960s, today we are conducting projects that include isotopes, natural uranium and enriched uranium supplies, radioactive waste management, as well as such large-scale projects as nuclear power plants construction."
He continued: 'The opening of our regional office in the UAE is therefore a completely natural and logical next step in evolution of our cooperation with the companies of the Middle East. I am sure this will not only give us a new drive to our current projects, but also open up new opportunities."
