Afghanistan beats Pakistan in Asian Games cricket
GUANGZHOU — Afghanistan has knocked favorites Pakistan out of the cricket competition at the Asian Games, recording a shock 22-run victory in the semifinals.
Led by a brilliant allround performance from Karim Khan Sadeq, Afghanistan restricted Pakistan to 103-7 from its 20 overs after posting a decent 125-8 on Thursday.
Sadeq made a useful 19 runs as an opener and the offspinner later dented Pakistan run chase with twin strike in the 14th over.
Sri Lanka will play Bangladesh in Thursday’s other semifinals.
