Veteran Indian actor Shashi Kapoor passed away in Mumbai on Monday after a prolonged illness. Finding out about the celebrity's death, several Twitter users condoled his death. These included people in the show business as well as political figureheads such as Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor also sent his condolences. While doing so, he brought attention to several Twitterati condoling him instead of Kapoor.

In a short tweet, Tharoor said that his office has been receiving condolence calls. The reason for the confusing tweets could be traced from a now-deleted tweet from Times Now.

In the tweet, the surname 'Kapoor' was replaced with 'Tharoor' which enraged several Twitterati. Many users called on Times Now to make a correction. They have since apologised for the faux pas and wished Mr Tharoor good health in a brief tweet.
