Rs 85 lakh gold seized from passenger at Chennai airport

Chennai - The man who arrived in Chennai from Abu Dhabi was found carrying the precious metal in his hand baggage.

About 2.5 kg gold, worth around Rs 85 lakh, was seized from a man who arrived in the capital of south Indian state of Tamil Nadu from Abu Dhabi by an early morning flight on Thursday, airport officials said.
The man, hailing from Kerala, was found carrying the precious metal in his hand baggage, they said.
Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence have detained him for questioning, the airport officials said.
