Shaikh Ahmed says the carrier is considering purchases of Boeings 777s and Airbus A330s. He did not give details on the size of the possible orders but said it would be “tens” of aircraft.

Shaik Ahmed made the comments on Monday, the second day of the Dubai Airshow.

But it’s unclear whether any deal will be announced during the weeklong event.

He also says Dubai expects to issue a second round of bonds worth 10 billion dollar by the end of the year. The once-booming emirate has been burdened by huge debt from the global economic downturn.
