Air India has just seen the last sunset of 2016 and first dawn of 2017. As it looks forward in great anticipation to a New Year, Air India wishes you and your family a very happy and prosperous New Year.
Air India occupies a special place in the global and Indian aviation scenario. Since its first flight on October 15, 1932, Air India has grown to become a mega international airline connecting to 42 destinations in the US, Europe, Australia, Far East and Southeast Asia, and the Gulf. The airline's domestic network covers 71 destinations, including all state capitals and far-flung areas of India's Northeast, Ladakh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The airline also provides ground handling, engineering and maintenance services as well as low-cost travel options through its subsidiaries. Air India's young fleet of 106 aircraft comprises a mix of the latest state-of-the-art B787 Dreamliner's (23 aircraft), B777s, B747s, Airbus A330s, A321s, A320s and A319s.

The year 2016 saw new routes for Air India:

To commemorate International Women's Day as a symbol of women empowerment, Air India made history with the world's longest all-women operated and supported flight on a non-stop route from Delhi to San Francisco and on selected international and domestic routes. It is now a six-days-a-week flight, effective since November 2016.

Air India sixth freedom fares
