German auto maker Daimler said Monday that customers will be able to order some of its models online in future.
In a pilot project starting Tuesday, customers will be able to buy a limited number of pre-configured models of its Mercedes-Benz brand via Daimler’s own online store, the car maker said in a statement.
Initially, all online purchases will be executed and handled by Daimler’s Hamburg dealership.
Daimler is not the first auto maker to sell its cars over the worldwide web.
Rival car maker BMW has been selling its electric i3 model on the Internet since mid-November.
