Since the Vertical Marathon’s inception in 2003, the race is a key pillar of Dubai Holding Corporate Wellness Programme that relies on education and targeted interventions to help change behaviour in ways conducive to health by focusing on balanced nutrition, physical activity, stress management and general health.

Other events in the programme include the Dubai Marathon, the Dubai Women’s Run, the Global Corporate Challenge, blood donation drives and treks.

In the interest of safety, Dubai Holding Vertical Marathon participation numbers are capped at 200 and Dubai Holding employees are expected to make up 20 per cent of the total participants.

Ahmad bin Byat, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding, said: “The Vertical Marathon is a key component of this and I am pleased to see more participants from Dubai Holding every year. This year we will be supporting Al Jalila Foundation.” All proceeds raised from this year’s event will go to Al Jalila Foundation, a global philanthropic organisation dedicated to transforming lives through medical education and research.

Hundred per cent of the funds raised through the Dubai Holding Vertical Marathon will go towards medical research in the UAE, specifically on diabetes research.
