Dubai — The Consulate General of India in Dubai is organising a poetry and prose competition titled ‘Postcards of India — Impressions of a Young Mind’ for young students in Dubai and Northern Emirates.
Aimed at reinforcing India’s cultural heritage among Indian students, the event is reaching out to Indian parents and children across Dubai and Sharjah schools with a “patriotic” message and trying to inculcate a feeling of “being Indian” among them.
The Indian mission is conducting the event in partnership with Starting Point Dubai.
The organisers said the event is also being publicised across all non-Indian expatriate and local schools to further reinforce the cultural heritage of India and its camaraderie with other nations.
Students aged from seven to 17 years are participating in the philanthropic initiative with free registration.
The final presentation and awards ceremony will be held at the Indian Consulate auditorium on Saturday.
The Consul General of India Anurag Bhushan will present the awards to the winners decided by an eminent panel of judges comprising authors and prominent members of the community.
Starting Point Dubai, an educational company in Dubai founded by Ritu Puri Bhargava, focuses on organising inter-school and individual educational events for young adults including debating, quiz, poetry, numeracy and chess.
