UAE sets up award for national service

The UAE Cabinet gave approval to set up a national award to honour citizens for their efforts in the service of the nation and to encourage excellence in spheres of national work.

The establishment of the ‘Emirates Appreciation Award’ aims to motivate and honour citizens for their positive role in the service of the country and the promotion and development of excellence in all sectors of the national work. It will also emphasise on the importance of promoting citizen as an essential part of the overall development.

The Award will also recognise the role of researchers and inventors in the fields of science and applied technologies.

The cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace was chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in the presence of Lt. General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; and Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

The cabinet also agreed to set up a Federal Court of First Instance in Dibba Al Hisn in the emirate of Sharjah and ratified a number of agreements signed by UAE with other countries.

Among them are the agreement the UAE signed with Russia for the mutual exemption of pre-visa for holders of diplomatic passports in both countries, the air services agreements signed respectively with Mauritania, Portugal and Ukraine.

The cabinet also adopted the procedural manual to conclude international agreements and memoranda of understanding.
