The two new bridges are part of an elaborate road expansion projects proposed by Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning to remove traffic congestion and improve the road networks in the emirate. The two bridges and other expansion work will cost Dh95 million.
The main objective of the expansion plan is to minimise traffic worries in the emirate and provide better road facilities to attract more investors.
The first phase of the project began with the replacement of Gulfa and Al Mirror Roundabouts with bridges.
He explained that removal of these two roundabouts will enhance the movement of traffic through Shaikh Khalifa Road and open access to trucks and heavy vehicles which used to find it difficult to pass through roundabouts.
The official pointed out that the municipality was working on several projects to enhance the quality of roads in the emirate. Roads connecting the industrial areas had been accorded priority and contracting companies are already working on the main road, he added.
Razaq said that the implementation of the the municipality’s strategic programmes across the emirate and will greatly contribute to rapid economic development.
