Major Al Matroushi said that the new system has been implemented through a company specialising in traffic safety systems. Priority has been given to intersections that have seen frequent traffic accidents such as Al Hisawi Mosque intersection on Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi Road, which was closed by the department temporarily to reduce the chance of accidents.

He said that this project — carried out on the basis of the instructions of Shaikh Ammar bin Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman — was conceived after the department and the Ajman municipality conducted a comprehensive study of the safety situation in intersections in the emirate. “Replacing the signal lamps with larger ones was found to be the only solution to enhance safety,” he stressed.
