Three die in road accidents

SHARJAH — Two UAE national brothers and a Yemeni national were killed in two separate accidents in Sharjah on Tuesday night.

In an accident on Sharjah-Kalba Road, two UAE national brothers, Abdullah A., 24 and Saeed A., 23, were charred to death when the Nissan car they were travelling in, burst into flames after it was hit by a heavy truck driven by a Pakistani national, Mohammed Khan, 36.

The brothers were travelling towards Al Madam from Sharjah. The truck, which entered the main road from a side road suddenly, hit car from on the right, causing it to to roll over several times before catching fire.

The Pakistani driver of the truck was unhurt.

In the other accident, a 35-year-old Yemeni national was killed on the spot near Intersection 7 on Al Dhaid-Sharjah Road in Al Zubair area, as a heavy truck driven by an Indian national crushed his Land Cruiser.

The Land Cruiser rolled over several times on the road after the truck rammed into it.

Meanwhile, Lt. Abdull Rahman Al Owais, deputy officer at Al Dhaid Police station, said the Sharjah-Kalba Road had witnessed a large number of accidents in the recent past, mainly resulting from speeding and rash driving.
