This is the third such incident to be reported in a less than a fortnight. The latest video -- apparently filmed in class -- shows a male teacher hitting a student several times. The child can be heard trying to stifle his screams in the eight-second long clip.
The Fujairah Education Zone is currently investigating the alleged assault on the high school student in a public school. An official confirmed that the education zone is hearing the statements of both the teacher and the student on the assault case, and once the investigation are over, results will be made public.
Hussain Al Hammadi, the Minister of Education while reacting to the incident tweeted, "The step (to set up a hotline) has been taken to establish effective channels of communications with the students and their parents."
He said the ministry shuns any behaviour or acts that are irrelevant to education, or that fall outside the scope of true educational rules.
The hotline will be supervised by specialists to keep in touch directly with the ministry on any such developments and confuse students or impede their studies, he said.
"The teacher should set an example for the student and deal with him on the basis of firm principles that are designed to raise generations with love, care and interest," added Al Hammadi.
On October 14, a teacher from an Ajman school was suspended after a video showed that he hit a student. Two days later, a laboratory assistant from Al Ain was sacked after a similar video showed him hitting a student he had reportedly taken for a visit to a health centre.
