The new facility, opened on Wednesday, will support the largest broadcast and customer management contact centres in the Middle East.

Attending the inaugural ceremony were Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Information and Culture, and Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Free Zone Authority, along with other dignitaries. Youssra, Egyptian actress, also made an appearance at the ceremony. Abdulhamid Juma, CEO of Dubai Media City, said, "Dubai Media City will be working to provide Showtime with the support needed to further tap the vast emerging media market in our region and achieve greater growth. World class enabling services available in Dubai Media City make it the ideal location for Showtime and other leading media players."

Peter Einstein, Showtime President and Chief Executive, commented, "The relocation and centralisation of Showtime's operations brings all our functions together for the first time in our core market. Dubai Media City has created an unrivalled opportunity for broadcasters, publishers and other creative producers to excel in the region and beyond."

The new centre has capacity to play-out and multiplex up to 200 television channels. Showtime's play-out and up-linking operations will relocate from Cairo, Egypt, in mid-June with the Dubai broadcast centre initially transmitting the Showtime flagship Home Cinema pay-per-view film services, Disney Channel, MTV India, Zen, Hallmark, TXT.tv, Abu Dhabi Sports Channel and Abu Dhabi Television.
