The UAE face Sri Lanka in the semifinals of the Global qualifiers on Sunday. The winner of this match will qualify for this year's Women's T20 World Cup
Aiming to create a strategic umbrella for human capital, the decree will result in the integration and partnership of four Sharjah-based government entities: the Sharjah Children Centres, Youth Centres, Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, and Sharjah Tatweer Forum. The initiative has been designed to start a journey of innovation and leadership for young Emirati generations whose growth and intellectual development stems from the values and norms derived from their national identity - a culture rich in Arabic and Islamic values and global humanitarian kinship.
"What we have achieved in the UAE and what we look forward to accomplish in the future requires us to build, train and qualify young leaders who are responsible and ambitious to maintain the great acquisitions and successes achieved by their forefathers. They will make the UAE proud through their innovations and accomplishments," said Shaikha Jawaher.
"Establishing the 'Rubu' Qarn Foundation' for Creating leaders and Innovators comes in line with the national strategy of the UAE and the emirate of Sharjah, concerning children and adolescents through building Emirati generations full of talents, knowledge, which qualify them to be creative leaders and inspiring innovators who devote their capabilities to serving their community and representing their country effectively at local and international forums," she added.
The four departments and entities that will operate under the new foundation target children and adolescents, starting with six year olds up until 25 years of their lives - hence the phrase 'quarter of a century' (Rubu' Qarn in Arabic) in the title. They will collaborate to develop the talents of children in Sharjah and the UAE, building their capabilities through an array of programmes. The initiative will be responsible for identifying a strategic unified plan for the four entities, with the aim of stimulating their efforts ascertaining what benefits them, their country and the international community.
The 'Quarter of a Century Foundation' for Creating leaders and Innovators is a first-of-its-kind activity at the local and regional level that seeks to build and develop generations over 25 years. It is being regarded as particularly significant because it does not focus on one specific area over another, but instead develops a wide range of skills and capabilities that contribute to building knowledge-based generations who enjoy creating, shaping and leading the future.
