Shabbir Kumar, Omer Sharif join hands for show in Dubai

DUBAI — The legendary Indian playback singer Shabbir Kumar is celebrating his silver jubilee in Dubai on August 31 at Al Thuraya ballroom in the Renaissance Hotel, with the Pakistani king of comedy, Omer Shariff.

The event, Shabbir Kumar Live In Concert With Omer Sharif, being organised by Dubai-based Swan Events Managements in collaboration with Malaysia-based Smart Xs Consultant Private Limited, was announced at a Press conference.

It was addressed by Shaikh Jamal, managing director of the organising companies and producer of the show; Shabbir; his son music director and singer Dilshad Shaikh; daughter Rubina Mallick who is associated with Swan Events; Thamir Al Marhoon, business director and partner of Swan Events, and Huma Shaikh, Pakistan-based director marketing for Smart Xs.

Jamal said that they would produce and provide quality entertainment for the community in UAE, with Swan Events organising more then 10 shows in the future, following the introductory event.

Shabbir Kumar made his first impression in 1968 by singing a song that was sung by late Muhammad Rafi.

His voice resembled Rafi’s so much that he was dubbed a clone of Rafi.

Shabbir was first introduced in Bollywood film industry by Sumit Usha Khanna in the film Tajruba, but the films Betaab and Coolie gave him grand success and he became popular around the world.

He has sung in different languages and has been awarded with 34 Gold Discs, 16 Platinum, 1 Kohinoor Disc and has also received a number of other awards.

He has also received the award "The Best Playback Singer" in Dubai.

Dilshad is also performing at his father's celebrations. His compositions have been sung by Kumar Sanu, Vinod Rathore, Sadhna Sargam, Kunal Ghanja Wala and also by Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra. He sang in Rang Dey Basanthi with Bollywood actor Aamir Khan.
