Col Nasser Salem Al Muraddad, Chief of the Traffic and Licensing Department in Ras Al Khaimah said the incident took place in the morning, when a heavy truck coming from a feeder road, driven by a 25-year-old Asian, joined the main road without stopping and looking for vehicles coming.
The truck rammed the Emiratis’ vehicle which was already on the road and injured all the five passengers aged between 15 and 24 years.
Police and the Civil Defence personnel rushed to the scene after receiving information about the accident and admitted all the Emiratis to Saqr Hospital. One of the Emiratis, who had been trapped in the car wreckage, was removed by the rescue personnel who had to drill through it to extricate him.
Al Muraddad has urged motorists to drive carefully and to strictly observe the traffic rules and regulations in order to reduce road accidents in the emirate.
