A security officer in Saudi Arabia recently received the Order of King Abdulaziz after he arrived back to the kingdom after treatment.
He had lost his eyesight in the suicide attack at the Prophet Mohammed's mosque in the Saudi city of Madinah mosque in 2016.
Since then, Hossam al-Harby has been in and out of hospitals for treatment in Saudi Arabia and Spain.
Four police officers killed in Madinah suicide bomb attack
"The attack happened on the 29th day of Ramadan in 2016. We were seven officers preparing to break our fast when a strange man walked near us. He was carrying a bag and kept asking where Mecca was. We were suspicious of him and wondered how someone in the holy site could not know where Mecca is. When he noticed that we were growing suspicious, he immediately blew himself up," Harby told Al Arabiya.
Four of the officers died in the accident and another one went into a coma while Harby lost his eyesight.
The Saudi government took care of the medical expenses and honoured him with the Order of King Abdulaziz when he arrived home.
"I am proud of what I did and the great care that I received from my country which does not forget its heroes and soldiers," he added.
