RTA to host UITP board meetings next month

DUBAI — The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will host meetings of the Executive and Policy Boards of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) on November 28 and 29.

Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, CEO of the Marine Transport Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and chairman of the Organising Committee of the 1st Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Congress to be held from November 25 to 27, said 88 members of the Executive and Policy Boards of the UITP would attend the meetings.

The meetings would take up a number of important issues, including a presentation of the UITP action plan for 2008, a study of the assessment and impressions of the participants in the international conference and exhibition organised by the association in the Finnish capital of Helsinki early this year, the international conference to be held in the Austrian capital of Vienna in 2009, and the integration of public transport sector with urban planning and the economic appraisal of public transport projects.

He said management of ticketing and e-faring, safety and security instructions on board public transport buses and other topics, issues and points that are bound to diversify the level of services would be discussed at the meetings.
