Road strategy

AJMAN — Developmental projects including roads shared between Sharjah and Ajman has been included in a new strategic plan which was launched recently by Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning.

During a meeting Shaikh Rashid had with Male Stewart, the Engineering Consultant for Ajman Amiri Court and Ali Al Hamrani, Director General of the department, plans to execute the roads project connecting Ajman and Sharjah to minimise traffic congestion in the two emirates were discussed.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Al Hamrani said the department was making great efforts to improve the roads to contiribute to the development of the infrastructure of the emirate. The movement between Sharjah and Ajman on a daily basis was massive, and hence the department was giving priority to improve the roads connecting the two emirates.

Pointing out that Ajman had witnessed great improvement and development in road network during the year, he said the municipality had launched strategic plans to develop many areas in the emirate and carried out projects to expand roads to solve major congestion problems in some places. The roads project was being implemented in various part of the emirate and by 2005 end, all the project would be completed.

Al Hamrani pointed out that the municipality had accomplished the first stage of roads construction, treatment and maintenance projects in Al Jarf Area and was now working towards completion of the second stage which entails laying of roads totalling 60km.
