Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC) has launched its programme lineup for the holy month of Ramadan on its various radio and TV channels, namely Sharjah TV, Sharjah Channel2, Sharqiya from Kalba, Sharjah Radio and Sharjah Sport TV, with 57 programmes and exclusive productions.
The new schedule includes 23 programmes for Sharjah TV viewers, 14 programmes for Sharqiya from Kalba, a quiz show and Ramadan sport competition on Sharjah Sport TV and 18 new programmes on Sharjah Radio.
The announcement was made during a Press conference held by SMC at its headquarters in Sharjah in the presence of Shaikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Corporation, Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, director-general of Sharjah Media Corporation, Mohammed Hassan Al Khalaf, Director of Sharjah TV and Radio, and directors of SMC's television and radio sectors.
"The programmes reflect SMC's commitment to choosing the best shows that meet the aspirations of our viewers and are in harmony with the traditions and customs of the local community," said Shaikh Sultan bin Ahmed.
The popular Iftar Cannon (Midfa Al Iftar), with live short interviews and quizzes, will be broadcast on a daily basis. The cultural talk show, The Target (Nishan), and cooking show Spices (Baharat) by Chef Sumaia Obaid, are scheduled special shows.
The 'World's Most Beautiful Mosques' and 'Charity Caravan' are both listed . A range of carefully selected Arabic drama series that cater to different tastes and age groups are scheduled for the upcoming month. The drama shows include Halmia Nights, Bamboo Stalk (Saq Al Bamboo) and I Found my Soul (Laqit Rawhi) and Bedouin series Red Tear (Damaa Al Hamra)".
Sharjah Sport will organise an indoor football championship to scout for young Emirati talents.
Sharjah Radio listeners will have 18 Ramadan programmes to choose from, most notably Stay with Us (Khalkum Wayana), which will be broadcast live from different venues.
The quiz, Your Balance with you (Rasidak Bedak) will gives away fun prizes.

Sharjah Media Corporation has prepared a variety of programmes for non-Arabic speaking viewers and listeners. The programmes were carefully selected to meet the needs of these communities in a culturally adapted approach.
