During the consul staff's visit to Fujairah on August 19 and 21, over 30 members of the Pakistani community met the team at the Pakistani School. Over 20 people deposited their passports for renewal and issuance of visas, four/five people came with National Identity Card (NIC) related services, around four people visited the staff with regard to services related to Foriegn Exchange Remittance Card, while few came for attestation of documents.

In Ras Al Khaimah, more or less the same number of Pakistanis turned up to benefit from these services. The consulate team comprised one officer and two assistants.

The announcement on the start of the services to far-flung areas was made by Pakistani Consul-General Amanullah Larik on Pakistan's 56th Independence Day.

This service has been started on demand by the Pakistani community residing in these areas.

Earlier, Pakistanis residing in these areas had to pay huge sum to avail of these services as they had to either bring their passports to the consulate in Dubai personally, courier them, or ask other people travelling to Dubai to help them out.

According to Mr Larik, if the services are a success and in a month or two, they would be further expanded. "These door-to-door services will definitely prove to be immensely beneficial to the Pakistani community," he said.
