New projects under way to improve irrigation system

The project includes planting a large number of trees over an area of more than 11,000 Sq metres in Al Rashidiya's streets and green belts.

The plantation will cover an area of 9,500 sq metres in Al Jarf area and 1,800 sq metres in the extension of Shaikh Zayed Road, from Ajman bridge to the Sharjah Ajman boundaries. General maintenance projects to upgrade the parks and Corniche Roads in Ajman to make it attractive for the families during the Holy month of Ramadan, was also part of the project.

Speaking to Khaleej Times Engineer Sobhi Mohammed Abu Al Naaj, Head of the Agriculture section of the municipality, said that the engineers of the section visited all public parks and carried out maintenance works including painting works, plantation of more palm trees and attractive flowers and installing extra benches.

Pesticides were also sprayed in several agricultural areas to ensure the safety of the plants and to minimise damage to the environment.

He added that the staff of the section also made great efforts to enhance the irrigation services in all agricultural areas and on the Corniche and other roads of the emirate by digging two more wells to supply water for most of the agricultural areas in the emirate and for watering trees in Al Ahmadiya Park.

“The irrigation systems of the plants and lawn in Khalifa, Shaikh Zayed and Rashid bin Saeed roads were enhanced as part of the irrigation improvement project,” said Abu Al Naaj.
