"The formation of the committee, which is in line with the directtives of Dr Ali bin Abdullah Al Kaabi, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, to adopt modern management approaches, will support decision-making, assesment operations as well as enhancing the concept of team work and upgrading services provided by different departments," Humaid bin Demas, Assistant Under-Secretary for Administration and Finance Affairs at the Ministry told Khaleej Times yesterday.

He said the committee will comprise Directors and Deputy Directors of five departments, namely administration affairs, finance affairs, services and preparations department, training department and public affairs department. "One of the objectives of the new panel is to evolve leadership role among the staff and realise the concept of team work, so as to develop and secure high competence levels," Demas said.

He said the committee would be entrusted the responsibility of preparing, on an annual basis, plans and programmes on the development of different services provided by the Ministry.

"The committee would also oversee ways and means to further develop and modernise these plans to ensure quality services through the various departments of the administration and finance sector," he said, adding the committee would also help its members get acquainted with the functioning of various departments in the Ministry. "Being a member of the committee would enable officials getting briefed on the management systems in different departments, and thus help them in taking over the leadership role in these departments," Demas said.
