Nisreen Al Rejibei, legal advisor at the Disputes Department, told Khaleej Times recently that the ministry is discussing the issue with officials at Tawasul to solve the cabbies' problems.
The action came after the cabbies went to the MoL office in Mussafah Industrial Area and filed a complaint last week, saying that the company is deducting the shortfall in the daily target of Dh250 from their salaries and has delayed the wages for three-four months.
"The company has not delayed the wages for four months. The cabbies started failing to meet the daily target after the new free buses were introduced in the emirate," she said.
"The revised target will be fixed by the company. The drivers have the right to reject the new target and go back to their countries," added Al Rejibei.
The company officials, when contacted to find out the new target, did not respond.
Meanwhile, the Inspection Department at the ministry is still checking the pay slips of the drivers.
